Üniversite Öğrencilerinde Duygusal Zeka, Kariyer Uyum ve İyimserliğinin Demografik Özellikler Açısından Değerlendirilmesi

Hayatlarının büyük bir kısmını çalışarak geçiren insanlar için iş, meslek, çalışma ve kariyer birer yaşamsal olgudur. İnsan hayatının merkezinde bulunan bu kavramlar yaşam üzerinde çok boyutlu bir role sahiptir. Seçilen meslek, bireylerin yaşamlarında kişisel, sosyal, ekonomik ve eğitimle alakalı ciddi faktörleri etkilemektedir. Kariyer uyumu, hızlı biçimde gelişen çalışma koşulları bağlamında meta yeterlilikleri sağlayan anahtarlardan biri haline gelmiştir. Bu kavram bireylerin kendilerinde ve kendilerine uygun işlerde uyumu sağlayabilmek için kullandıkları tutumlar, yeterlilikler ve davranışlar anlamına gelmektedir. Günümüz toplumunun zorluklarıyla başa çıkabilmek için uyum becerilerinin yanı sıra öne çıkan bir diğer kavram kariyer iyimserliğidir. Kariyer iyimserliğinin doğasında bulunan bu olumlu gelecek yönelimi, bireylerin kariyer engelleri üzerine düşündüklerinde ve kariyer planlama görevlerini yerine getirdiklerinde kendilerine güvenmelerini sağlar. Buna göre, iyimserlerin kariyer engellerine cevap verme ve kariyer engellerini güvenle yenme istekliliğini gösterme olasılıkları yüksektir. Bireylerin kariyerleri boyunca karşılaşacakları değişim ve gelişimlere uyum sağlama sürecini güçlendirmek için duygusal zeka becerilerinin geliştirilmesinin önemi büyüktür. Bu nedenle, genç yetişkinlerde kariyer uyum ve iyimserlikleri ile duygusal zeka becerileri üzerine çalışılmasının günümüzün her bakımdan hızla değişen dünyasında kariyerleri için hazırlanmakta olan genç yetişkinlere kariyer uyum becerilerini geliştirmede faydalı olacağı düşünülmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, İstanbul Üniversitesi-Cerrahpaşa’nın çeşitli fakültelerinde öğrenim gören 578 öğrenciye yönelik, demografik özellikler açısından duygusal zeka, kariyer uyum ve kariyer iyimserliği için anlamlı farklılık olup olmadığının ortaya konulmasıdır.
