Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Research Article

Research articles are academic studies prepared within a specific theoretical framework and methodology, based on an original research question. Qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods, comparative, historical, discourse analysis, content analysis, document analysis, policy analysis, or field research-based studies are considered within this scope. The journal's primary publication priority is research articles. Research articles are expected to contain original data, original analysis, or original theoretical discussion.

Review Article

Review articles are studies that systematically, critically, and analytically evaluate the literature in a specific field. EDUBA considers not only descriptive reviews summarizing existing literature, but also review articles that highlight key debates, theoretical orientations, methodological trends, gaps, and new research opportunities within the relevant literature. Review articles should have a clear research objective, scope, selection criteria, and analytical contribution.

Theoretical Article

Theoretical articles are studies that offer original theoretical contributions around a specific concept, approach, theory, debate, or problem area in the social sciences. Such studies are expected to go beyond mere literature review; they should include conceptual clarity, critical depth, and original discussion. EDUBA is open to studies offering theoretical contributions in the fields of society, labor, politics, institutions, welfare, media, communication, inequality, digitalization, and social transformation.

Methodological Article

Methodological articles are studies that focus on research methods, data collection techniques, analysis strategies, measurement approaches, comparative methods, or new methodological discussions used in the social sciences. Such articles are not sufficient to simply introduce methods; they are expected to offer a clear methodological contribution to the practice of social scientific research. Studies focusing on qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods, digital methods, discourse analysis, content analysis, visual analysis, bibliometric analysis, field research design, and the relationship between ethics and methodology can be considered within this scope.

Araştırma Notu

Research notes are short studies that include narrower but academically significant findings, data, observations, methodological experiences, or discussions. Research notes should address an original problem area, offer a clear academic contribution, and be directly related to the journal's aims and scope. Research notes are not a substitute for completed large-scale research articles; however, they can contribute to emerging research areas, preliminary findings, or methodological discussions.

Policy Analysis

Policy analyses are studies that examine policy processes in the fields of public policy, social policy regulations, working life, welfare regimes, migration, inequality, media policies, digitalization, institutions, and social transformation within an academic framework. Policy analyses to be published in EDUBA are expected to go beyond simply reporting current developments; they are expected to include theoretical, historical, comparative, or empirical analysis.

Book Review

EDUBA may include book reviews to a limited extent, provided they are consistent with the journal's aims and scope. Book reviews should not merely summarize the book's content; they should discuss the work's place in the literature, its theoretical contribution, its methodological quality, and its strengths and weaknesses within an academic framework. Book reviews may not be subject to a peer-review process; however, they will undergo an editorial review process.

Translated Article

EDUBA may, to a limited extent, publish translated articles in the social sciences that have high academic value and are consistent with the journal's aims and scope. Translated articles must clearly state the publication information of the source text, translation permission, copyright status, and the translator's information. Publication of translated articles is subject to the editorial board's evaluation and the full provision of necessary permissions.

Editorial Articles

Editorial articles are texts that contain editorial assessments of the journal's publication policy, special issue agenda, academic orientation, or a specific area of ​​discussion. Editorial articles are not subject to peer-review. The nature and non-peer-reviewed status of such articles are clearly stated.

Articles Derived from Conference Proceedings

EDUBA will only consider articles developed from papers previously presented at scientific conferences if they are significantly expanded, restructured, and qualify as original academic articles. The article must clearly state where and when the original version was presented. Studies created solely through limited editing of the paper text will not be considered.
